INSTRUCTOR: Randy Werger
This interesting course provided a brief history of the Internet, and its benefits to RVers -- how one can get connected and keep abreast of friends and family while on the road. This was followed by discussion and demonstration of Personal Pages. These free pages, such as Excite, and MSN can be personalized by each individual to show his preferences -- his stocks, his weather reports, etc.
Several online resources were listed, among them Rvers Online and the RV Times (www.rvtimes.com), a subscription magazine. The Times' online services include some informative articles about Rving in Canada. Also noted were Woodalls (www.woodalls.com) and the Internet Camping Directory (www.rvpark.com). One especially interesting source is the WWW Speedtrap Registry (www.nashville.net/speedtrap/). Here, listed by US state and Canadian province, are the places to be especially careful of your driving. They request that RVers pass along any additional information.
The last portion of the class included discussions of Internet providers, their prices, and how to find the one best suited to individual needs, modem friendly RV parks, and other places (libraries, Internet cafes, etc.) where theRVer may access his email, and the use of cell phones in Internet accessing.
